Centrifugal pumps operate on centrifugal force. When the fluid has to be pumped, it passes through a space surrounding the impeller, which is a wheel looking like blades. The impeller is connected to the electrical motor and thus spins at high velocities within the tank of the water jet. While the impeller rotates, the fluid being pumped is urged outwards where it accumulates kinetic energy in centrifugal pumps that help to create a force that churns it through the pump's casing.
